The QuakeAlertUSA app is designed to provide timely earthquake alerts to users through push notifications on their mobile devices. A safety message is included in the alert, guiding users to take appropriate actions like dropping, covering, and holding on.

The warning time provided by the app can vary depending on factors such as the location, depth, and magnitude of the earthquake's epicenter. It can range from 10 to 60+ seconds, giving users valuable time to prepare and react.

One noteworthy feature of the QuakeAlertUSA app is its ability to bypass the "Do Not Disturb" setting on users' phones. This means that even if a user's phone is set to silent or "Do Not Disturb," they will still receive the audio alert from the app, ensuring that they never miss an important earthquake notification.

It's worth noting that the QuakeAlertUSA app relies on data provided by reputable sources such as the USGS and ShakeAlert. As an official pilot project developed in partnership with the U.S. Geological Survey, it should be considered a "beta" product with no guaranteed results. Currently, the app offers coverage for users within the geographical boundaries of the State of California.
